Sorry, Happy Holidays

December 24, 2008

I am an awful blogger. My mom yelled at me for not updating so here is my life update quickly.  I’ve been super busy researching boring search engine software to make my time be used quicker. After spending 4 days trying out software, I finally realized a few things:

1. Most of this software is crap.

2. Most are way overpriced.

3. There’s no 100% way to tell if they are working

4. The best ones are 100% automated.

So after buying trial versions of 5 peices of software, I settled on this:  1 link finding software (SEO elite), one article creation software (jet spinner), 1 blog submitter (Article Marketing Automation- still in a trail phase, not sure if i will keep it), and 1 semi automatic directory submitter (digixmas).  Total cost: $167 dollars plus $50 per month.

With this I should be able to a) save a lot of time by automating a lot of work  and b) gain lots of links so my websites rank high and google and therefore gain money

so now that that boring work is done, i can actually do real work.

Tomorrow (Xmas), I am going to the beach for 8 days. I am cutting the internet cord and not updating my websites or doing anything more than checking e-mail while I sit on the beach, get a great tan, and party the night away with my friends. It will be a good, relaxing break.  I wish I could go longer but I can’t afford it.

I lost my job. The one teaching job I had kept to bring in some money while i got my websites working is gone due to the poor economic conditions. They shut their bangkok office down.

So, I have an interview when I return from my holiday but chances are I will move to Taipei when my visa is up on the 24th of Jan.  I need to start saving serious money so I can go travel again next year and I’m not doing that now. I’m way behind where I need to be.

and my websites will take a few months to get going….

and I saw the day the earth stood still.  Keanu Reeves is awful. Not as bad as Tom Cruise in that new Nazi movie but still bad. He looked and acted like Neo in the whole thing.  pathetic.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!

December 12, 2008

I was going to put the photos in this post but wordpress didn’t recognize the links as valid. So now it’s a bit more difficult for you to see my photos from singapore- you actually have to click a link!

You can click here to see my photos from my trip to singapore:

Enjoy them and have a good weekend!!!

Grabbing Hold of My Dream

December 9, 2008

When I was growing up, I wanted to be an archaeologist.  I guess I watched too many Indy movies.  Then  I decided I didn’t want to be that.  Maybe something with a history degree. Who knows. In college, I decided I wanted to be a teacher. That was my calling. To teach.  After college, I worked in a hospital.  Then I saw the movie the The Corporation. It was an assault on normal corporate practices and a praise for “sustainable business.” Bingo! That’s what I wanted.  Save the world, pad my wallet.  Everyone wins!!!

So I went to get a MBA and something happened.

In 2005, I went to Thailand.  I met people who just lived and enjoyed and didn’t worried.  Here I was- 24, planning my life out, saving for “the future”- what ever that was!, and not happy. I came home. I quit. I traveled.  Though I did finish the MBA- I just hated the thought of wasting all that money already!

No, I’m not sure what I want to do. I like doing a lot of things.  But I do know I never want to work in a cubicle or office ever again. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN!

I love traveling. I love the web. The sociology of it fascinates me.  Why not combine them? Working from my computer anywhere in the world appeals to me.

It hit me a few days ago. I love what I am doing now. I am just starting to make some money but if this course continues, I’ll be able to make a living.  My face is out there. My name is known.  I have stuff on the way.

So I turned down teaching offers. I am going to concentrate on making my web empire.  I have two people paying now to do SEO for their websites so that brings in a steady paycheck. But I will be my travel empire.

I will be free.

I will have a four hour work week.

I future never seemed better.

Social Marker

December 3, 2008

I’ve recently come across an amazing website. It’s called Social Marker. This site lets you semi-automate all your social media submissions.  What a time saver.

Social Media is the term used to describe sites like Stumble Upon, Digg, Mixx, Reddit, Furl, and Facebook- sites that allow users to share websites and links with each other. I use ALL these sites and much more. (I currently use 25 social bookmarking and media sites.)  They are a great way to find new stuff, help friends, and promote my own websites.

25 sites seems like a lot and, up until I found Social Marker, I only used Stumble Upon, Mixx, and Digg and, ocassionally some do-follow sites to help rank high in Google.  However, it’s a tedious task going through all the pages individually and submitting them, especially if you are doing a lot for friends.  Lots of time!!

Enter Social Marker. All I do is type in the url, the title, a little blurb, and some tags, check the sites I want to submit too and Social Marker loads them up on the page.  I have to go through each site indiviuadlly and click submit but with all the information pre load, it takes about 5 minutes. I never have to open a new page and if the ifnormation is not included, I just drag and drop.

Because this works so well, I went and signed up for a ton more social networking sites. You can never have too many links or too much promotion. Now, I add my content and other content to 25 sites. Takes about 6-7 minutes per page depending if I feel like doing all the sites or just some.  But now, one hour every few days is all I need to help my friends out, submit new content, add my stuff, and build links.

Easy.   You can pay to download a program that will do it for you but why pay when I can do it for free?

For social media addicts, this is a must use tool.
